Conceptual demonstration
Energy visibility for a multi-tenant building
How sub-metering, rooftop solar data and HVAC monitoring could give a building operator a clear view of where energy goes and when.
Conceptual demonstration
This is a conceptual demonstration: a worked example of how LIOMO would approach this kind of system. It is not a client project, and it describes no real customer, site or result.
Challenge
The scenario
Think of an office building with several tenants, a rooftop solar installation and a central heating and cooling plant. The operator receives one monthly bill, cannot see which tenant or system uses what, and learns about peak-demand charges only after they appear on the invoice.
Approach
How LIOMO would approach it
01
Connect
Add sub-meters per tenant and major system, read the solar inverter and the plant controller over standard protocols such as Modbus.
02
Collect
Store interval readings in one time-series database with clear naming per meter and circuit.
03
Understand
Show consumption by tenant, system and time of day, alongside solar generation.
04
Act
Alert before demand approaches a set peak, and produce monthly reports for tenants and energy reviews.
Architecture
System components
- 01
Sub-meters
Per tenant and per major system, at the distribution boards.
- 02
Solar and plant interfaces
Inverter and plant controller data over standard protocols.
- 03
Edge gateway
Polls devices on site and forwards readings securely.
- 04
Energy platform
Dashboards, peak-demand alerts and tenant reports.
What it shows
What it illustrates
Visibility before control
Measure where energy goes before changing how equipment runs.
Fair allocation
Tenant consumption based on measurement, not floor area.
Early warning
Act on demand peaks before they reach the invoice.
